They recently started airing a revivial of "Pyramid" on a broadcast network where I live. Unlike the original, this version is aimed at kids, though it isn't half-bad. But I do have a question: Are any episodes of the original American series in the public domain? It started in 1973, but there is still a small possiblity some of the surviving episodes have fallen out of copyright and I'd love to see them.

I would be SHOCKED if the originial Pyramind shows are in PD only because the host was Dick Clark. Now whether or not Dick Clark's production company owns those shows or not I don't know but the fact that the man was the host, I still wouldn't upload them.

Talk to people who have tried to upload some of the Clark stuff on You Tube ( American Bandstand, New Years Rockin Eve, etc..) and the results...it ain't pretty.

I Have Two or Three episodes of Password from the 60's including one with the Guy from Newhart... What was his name? Oh yeah! Bob Newhart (Terrible Joke, I know.)

Oh man... If I could have copies of Match Game from the 70's, that would be too cool!

but, let me check on Password, and I'll get back with ya... not that I'll find anything, but who knows?

Lynn, the only thing I thinks is P.D. on Match Game is the pilot that aired in the 1960's. The 70's version is on GSN
and they probably won't relinguish their game show claws from it.

On that subject, can anybody who has good quality copies of the surviving episodes of 1960's "Match Game" please check if they feature a copyright notice or not?

I already checked the 70's version and as it has a copyright notice at the end of each episode, it cannot be uploaded here.

Yep. Other 70's game shows would be nice, if there are any with public domain episodes (which is moderately possible). How about the ABC version of "Password"? They didn't even bother to preserve that version of "Password", so it is possible the 7 or so surviving episodes lack copyright notice.

Hiya Sir Matthew,
Though they are not Password or pyramid I just upped 4 shows for you, These are quite a bit different from the modern version. I also have 8 shows circa 1973 that do not contain a copyright notice. I wonder if those would be safe?

I should be around a lot more now (at least til spring).

Enjoy

Mike D.

Cool, Thanks, I'll watch and rate them. You'd probably better ask Video-Cellar about the 1973 items, Though I would presume they are PD (then again, I could be wrong)
